The Town Hall of Sant Josep has installed video surveillance cameras in the access to the restricted car parks and in the front area of the terminal of the airport of Ibiza, in order to ensure safety and orderly traffic in this sensitive area.

As reported on Friday the Consistory in a statement, the measure is also implemented with the aim of avoiding the uncontrolled passage of vehicles «which has already caused recent collapses in this area reserved for authorized and priority vehicles».

Thus, the cameras, which are equipped with a license plate identification system, will begin to report from this Saturday automatically to vehicles that access this part of the airport without authorization.
In particular, they will be located at the point where traffic to the restricted area and general access car parks forks, and will automatically identify and report vehicles whose registration does not appear on the white list drawn up between the Local Police and Aena, collecting data provided by the transport sector and hotel establishments.

In addition, the video surveillance will alert the police to vehicles suspected of engaging in the illegal transport of people, with the aim of facilitating their interception and reporting.

Finally, these measures are intended to facilitate the orderly management of traffic in the terminal through actions that discourage intrusion and that allow the sanction of the uncivilized behavior of some people.
