This festive Wednesday the Christmas activities organized in the Parque Reina Sofía of Vila by the Ibiza City Council have been launched. Among all the activities carried out next to the Portal Nou, the little ones can enjoy a series of inflatable castles while parents enjoy the food trucks deployed in the area. However, the main protagonist among all activities is undoubtedly the ice skating rink, which this year will be totally free.

Although, strictly speaking, there’s no ice on this rink. Instead, a special plastic base allows you to enjoy this activity saving the energy needed to maintain an ice rink. «It is a synthetic track, although the skates are the same ones used to skate on the ice», explains Juan Antonio Cuesta, coordinator of S'Espurna, who recognizes that «there is a certain difference when you know how to skate on ice».

A total of 288 square meters in which you can enjoy skating small and large. For smaller skaters, a number of polar bear or penguin-shaped companions serve as support to minimize the number of falls.

In this way, with a few minutes delay due to the rains of the previous night, past noon this Wednesday opened the doors of the skating rink. Not before performing a hilarious warm-up session by 'Cáscara' and the Christmas elves, which enlivened the morning that culminated with the concert of Santa’s Band.

The skating rink on 'ice' will remain open until next January 7. The hours, from Monday to Friday, will be 17 to 20 hours. On weekends and holidays the schedule will be from 12 to 19 hours interrupted. In addition, on weekends and holidays you can also enjoy workshops, concerts and other activities, in addition to the presence of food trucks.
